The Pool

Our south-facing tiled swimming pool is 10mx5m. This pool is heated by 36m2 of roof-mounted solar panels. The northern half of the in-ground pool has a flat bottom with a constant depth of around 85cm with the southern half sloping down to a max depth of 2m.

The main lawn/playground and all the cottages are separated from the pool area by two gates, a 1.8m high wall, and the car park. See the complex layout (link from homepage) for full details of where everything is relative to everything else.

Tables, chairs, parasols, plenty of sunloungers and pool toys are supplied. We also keep a small paddling pool within the pool area in the shade for our very youngest guests. Our dive school partners (professional PADI dive instructors who just happen to live in our village) offer a very popular range of dive courses for adults and children of all ages. Prices range from 15euros pp up depending on the length of the course.

Pumping the water through the solar panels helps to maintain a comfortable water temperature (usually between 25-32 degrees centigrade) from May through to mid September. The water temp. is generally about 6 degrees higher than that of unheated pools. With solar heating the water temp generally builds up through the day and we ask guests to roll back the thermal cover in the evenings in order to minimize the temperature loss at night.

The pool area is very secure, fully enclosed and certified to the 2005 European safety standards. The area is entered by use of a self-closing childproof gate (magnalatch system) and the pool is also protected by an anti drowning alarm which activates automatically after 10mins of inactivity.

We ask guests to deactivate the alarm by use of a simple magnet prior to anyone entering the pool.
